At each Vintage Festival since 1999, twelve young adults aged 18-25 with a strong passion for the Barossa region, are handpicked to actively participate in hosting and promoting the Barossa and the Barossa Vintage Festival.
The Young Ambassador Program aims to identify and raise the profile of potential future community leaders and Vintage Festival event conveners. Through the program, the Barossa dozen are given the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills by undertaking an extensive training program. This training incorporates the Barossa’s rich food and wine culture and event planning.
One of the Barossa dozen will be selected as the 2011 Barossa Young Ambassador. The recipient of this title will be awarded a travel prize and will act as the Barossa’s Young Ambassador until the next Vintage Festival in 2013.
This festival the Young Ambassadors are – Zana Hoskin, Samantha Neumann, Sarah Noack, Megan Gehlert, Amber Glastonbury, Bronson Kies, Sally Weeks, Lucy Wells, Cassandra Mew, Rachel Power, Alexandra Lubke and Andy Geer.
Look out for the Young Ambassadors during the Barossa Vintage Festival and encourage them in their efforts.
The 2011 Barossa Young Ambassador will be announced at the Vintage Festival Ball on Saturday 30 April.
Through the Young Ambassador Program the Young Ambassadors, affectionately known as the ‘Barossa Dozen’ are given the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills by undertaking an extensive training program. This training incorporates the Barossa’s rich food and wine culture and event planning.
The enthusiastic Barossa Dozen invite you to “Dine with the Dozen” an event planned by the Young Ambassadors to showcase the skills they have acquired through their training. Enjoy a culinary experience prepared by local lad and Masterchef finalist Callum Hann together with local chef Stuart Oldfield (Hand Made Catering), creating a three course spread using the Barossa’s finest produce.
The event ‘Dine with the Dozen’ is a fundraising lunch to raise money for Barossa youth. Proceeds will be donated to Yambala Performing Arts Youth Group and the Barossa’s Young Ambassador Program.
The effort of the 12 young leaders does not end with this event, they will be extremely busy during the Barossa Vintage Festival, volunteering their time at numerous events throughout the festival, including the Rare and Distinguished Wine Auction, Legends Behind the Barrel, and the Grand Vintage Ball (where the chosen Ambassador will be announced). The Ambassadors also showed their support by marching in this years Declaration of the Vintage Parade on Sunday February 20.
