Welcome to the 2009 Barossa Vintage Festival Program.
This program represents the work of our entire community and shows our pride in what makes the Barossa unique.
The 2009 Barossa Vintage Festival Program has a fresh new format, making it
easier to read and plan your Festival itinerary. The Program includes a wide variety
of events ensuring there is something for everybody.
If you are a wine-buff, there are many ways of indulging your tastes. The ‘Rare
& Distinguished Wine Auction’ is a must – many of the wines are seen here and nowhere else. ‘Legends Behind the Barrel’ provides you with the opportunity
to meet the person who made the wine. Great wine begins on the vine and ‘Distinguished Vineyards’ takes you in to the heart of some of the greatest sources
of the grapes. Winemaking is an evolving dynamic, witness the old and the new generation of winemakers debate their craft at ‘Clarets Clarified’ hosted by the
Barons of Barossa.
If you are looking for family-friendly activities, don’t
miss our opening ‘Carnival’ in the grounds of the
historic and beautiful Seppeltsfield Winery with
activities and entertainment for the entire family. Each
of the Town Days has its own unique character and every
town wants to show why it is the best. The ‘Yalumba
Harvest Market’ showcases fine Barossa produce in an
idyllic setting, while ‘Ziegenmarkt’ provides a unique
glimpse into a traditional Barossa market. The ‘Festival
Parade’ from Nuriootpa to Tanunda is another great
tradition providing free family entertainment.
‘Heritage Hotspots’ is a series of historical
re-enactments held at various venues throughout the
Festival- each act is based on fact and is a true
reflection of life in the Barossa during the last
century.
Want to kick up your heels to celebrate the vintage? How
about the ‘Vino & Vibes’ event for a laid-back evening
of music and indulgence. The Barossa tradition of brass
band music is showcased with ‘Big, Bold and Brassy’ or
if you want to swing the night away, Friday night’s
‘Jazz Under a Hot Tin Roof’ is a must. And to finish the
Festival in elegant style, the ‘Festival Ball’, on Saturday night, continues a sixtyyear tradition of dressing up and celebrating the vintage.
I hope you enjoy reading through this Program and
planning your visit to the 2009 Barossa Vintage
Festival. We look forward to your company.
