Planning for the 2011 Barossa Vintage Festival has commenced with a passionate committee, new manager and a new parent body.
The newly elected 2011 Barossa Vintage Festival Committee reflects a blend of old and new, a desire to continue tradition and embrace innovation.
Mr Bill Biscoe has been re-elected to the role of Festival Chair for his second consecutive Festival. He is joined by representatives from the broader Barossa community, wine industry, the hospitality and tourism sector and the current Young Ambassador for the Barossa.
“The 2009 Festival was such a great success and so enjoyable to be involved with, that it has been an absolute pleasure to renominate for the Committee and huge honour to be elected to the position of Chair. It is going to be difficult, but I think we can surpass the high standard set by the 2009 Festival".
We have many of the 2009 Committee members on the 2011 Committee, plus a number of fresh nominees, who will bring new perspectives and new ideas to the next Festival.
“The Committee is very pleased to announce the appointment of Samantha Foreman as the 2011 Festival Manager. Samantha brings a wealth of experience to the position through her experience with the past two Festivals as Events Manager” enthuses Bill.
The Barossa Grape & Wine Association (BGWA) is committed to continuing the success of this key regional, award winning event and replaces Barossa Wine and Tourism as the governing body of the Festival. The Festival will complement the existing events already governed by the BGWA including Gourmet Weekend and the Barossa Wine Show.
“Finally, I must express my gratitude to the Barossa Grape & Wine Association, which has expressed its faith in the Barossa Vintage Festival as an important part of our heritage and culture by coordinating the nomination of the Committee and the appointment of Samantha as Manager” added Bill.
The success of the 2009 Barossa Vintage Festival has recently been acknowledged with the receipt of two awards; a silver medal in the Festival and Events category of the South Australian Tourism Awards and an SA Great Regional Award in the Youth category for the Young Ambassador for Barossa program.
