Welcome to the Barossa Vintage Festival

Saturday 11 April – Sunday 19 April 2009

"Celebrate the Blend" - no phrase better reflects the purpose of the Barossa Vintage Festival. For more than 60 years the Barossa community has been celebrating the grape harvest through this iconic festival, although wine is an obvious focal point, there is so much more.

The Barossa region is steeped in tradition, whether it be our rich history in the arts, from brass bands to world-class theatre and visual arts; our love of the earth's produce, from wine, to produce and food; our strong religious traditions; our pride in our unique history, as show cased through 'Heritage Hotspots'; and the opportunity for each community to show its differences through Town Day events. In essence the Barossa Vintage Festival is a reflection of our strong community spirit.

Over 2,000 volunteers from all sections of the community work together to organise the myriad of events that make up the program - our strength is our people. The Barossa Vintage Festival continues to become stronger and bigger, reflecting our willingness to share our culture and spirit.

The highly successful 2007 Barossa Vintage Festival was recognised by our peers at the 2007 South Australian Tourism Awards, where we won the Festivals and Events section, and the 2007 SA Great Regional Awards, where we won the Tourism award. We are now in the running to win a National Tourism Award, which will be announced in Canberra at the end of February, 2008.

The 2009 Barossa Vintage Festival Committee is hard at work planning and developing a Festival program that will surpass expectations. We look forward to keeping you up to date on our progress through this website.

We invite you to share our pride in the Barossa from Saturday, 11th April to Sunday, 19th April, 2009. Come to the Barossa – “Celebrate the Blend”.
